SAINT CLOTILDE THE WOMEN THE OTHER HALF ORANGE OF THE CHRISTIAN FAITH
SAINT CLOTILDE
Today I pay homage to one of the most beautiful saints on the calendar: Clotilde, the wife of Clovis, the king who converted France to Christianity. She ceased to be an Arian at the beginning of the sixth century. The golden legend tells of the struggle of the Franks with the Saxons and the Germans.
The sweet wife suffered humiliation and nonsense. Patience is virtue say the British. Patience is a virtue, especially if it is a virtue in love.
Some considerations must be taken into account about who Arius was, a presbyter from Alexandria who preached about the humanity of Christ as the adopted son of God but who was not God. He was a man and that quality is stamped in art and in the Byzantine liturgy of the Goths.
Arius preached this doctrine to the Vandals, Suevi, Alans and Goths. They stopped worshiping the three Germanic deities Thor, Odin and Phregia but retain unique adherences to their old pagan beliefs.
The so-called barbarians of the North had a less relaxed morality despite their paganism than the Romans.
Therefore they ended up taking over the empire in a few years. When one visits the Mozarabic churches that survived the deleterious Morisma, this tendency to exalt the humanity of the Savior is observed.
The primitive Constantinian church plagued by heresies, however, ignored such assumptions and this would give rise to religious struggles between Catholics and Arians.
The wars of religion are the worst, but in the end, in the council of Toledo with Recaredo, what we assume as true religion triumphs.
Through Clotilde who induced her husband Clovis to accept baptism according to the Roman faith, the Franks continue on the path of Recaredo. Clotilde, beautiful in name and body and soul, was highly revered in France.
